VinFast’s business overview

This is a part of VinGroup, the largest private conglomerate in Vietnam owned by billionaire Pham Nhat Vuong. The Vietnamese electric car manufacturer had garnered significant attention even before its IPO in the U.S. The company stated that its sales figures had seen a substantial increase this year as it aimed to penetrate the U.S. and European markets.

Citing information from BNI Research, The Motley Fool indicated that VinFast is the leading player in the electric car market share in Vietnam.

At the beginning of the week, VinFast stock doubled after it offered interested parties a glimpse of the electric energy-powered vehicles it is producing. The company had just announced the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rating for its 7-seater SUV named VF9 – surpassing the company’s own expectations.

VinFast stated that the VF9 Eco model has an EPA-certified range of 330 miles, while the VF9 Plus model has an EPA-certified range of 291 miles. These models are priced at $83,000 and $91,000 respectively, with advanced driving support systems.

Importantly, VinFast revealed that while the VF9 model is already sold in Vietnam, the company plans to export this model to North America this year. This will be the second model that VinFast is targeting for the North American market. So far, the company has already introduced two smaller-sized SUVs, the VF8, to the U.S. market.

VinFast also released a significant figure this week to provide market insights into its production and sales activities. Specifically, VinFast delivered 11,300 electric vehicles in the first half of 2023 and had 26,000 pre-orders as of June 30th. By that time, the company operated 122 electric vehicle showrooms, including some in Europe.
